Mr. Umar is a seasoned expert in Nigerian corporate law and civil litigation. He has been in active civil litigation and commercial law practice since he was called to the Nigeria Bar in November 2009, successfully carving a niche for himself in commercial and civil litigation, legal advisory spanning different areas of law, including Insolvency, Debt Recovery, Banking & Finance, Employment, Labor Relations, Medical Law and Ethics. He is also experienced in Real Estate transactions, incorporation of companies with the Nigerian Corporate Affairs Commission, Intellectual Property and Expatriate Quota registration with the Nigerian Ministry of Internal Affairs.

Mr. Umar is especially skilled in Insolvency Debt Recovery Law, the realization of the assets of debtors in Receivership, Mortgages and the out-of-court exercise of the power of sale, summary proceedings for the realization of mortgaged properties, perfection of mortgages, registration of charges, Winding Up Proceedings, Settlement and Workouts, documentary credit transactions, asset tracing, the execution of Orders of Court relating to interim/perpetual Orders of possession or foreclosure of debtors' assets, pre-emptive actions by debtors, appeals, as well as general lawsuits in relation to credit transactions. He has also assisted and guided clients in the obtainment of Moneylender's Licenses and establishment of Microfinance Banks, whilst formulating a roadmap for the management of risks and the digitization of operations within the ambit of legal and regulatory frameworks.

In 2017, Mr. Umar was engaged by the International Committee of the Red Cross, Geneva, as Legal Consultant on an ambit of their operations in Nigeria. Sani also presently advises foreign multinationals on their foreign direct/portfolio investments in Nigeria.
